5 simple tips to bring the outdoors in this summer

If you’ve been enjoying coverage of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show – or were lucky enough to attend – you may be feeling inspired to bring some of that outdoor magic into your own home. Even without an outdoor space, it’s a great source of ideas for creating a nature-connected interior. Think organic textures, biophilic design and anything that helps you feel closer to nature.

Here are some of our favourite ways to achieve the ‘outdoor’ look – no garden, patio, balcony or terrace required:

Create an indoor garden

Being immersed in nature brings plenty of benefits to our health and wellbeing. If you love the idea of creating an indoor ‘outdoor’ experience with large plants and indoor trees – but not the hassle of tending to their every need – look no further than faux greenery.

There are so many fantastic and realistic options available, with the added bonus of no wilting or colour fading. From bonsais and succulents to trailing ferns and ivy, whether placed in a hanging basket, on a shelf or draped over a ledge, each can create a visually stunning display. Group them in this exquisite walnut plant stand and let your indoor ‘garden’ flourish.

Maximise light

Flooding your home with natural sunlight is the ultimate design hack. Keep your windows clean to allow light to flow freely and avoid blocking them with heavy furnishings. Choose bright, reflective paint shades (try Dulux) for walls and ceilings – this works well for flooring too.

Use mirrors strategically: placing one opposite or near a window helps bounce light around the room and creates the illusion of space. The multifunctional Tamu floor mirror even includes hidden shelving – perfect for small space living.

Keep things natural

Opt for natural materials and tactile textures to add warmth and a sense of grounded calm to your space. The versatile Chambray cotton throw, for example, can be draped over a sofa, layered on a bed or simply wrapped around yourself. It adds both comfort and a touch of elegance. Complement it with seagrass storage baskets to introduce neutral, earthy textures while offering a smart storage solution.

Use outdoor furniture inside

Yes, you read that right – use outdoor furniture indoors! Certain styles bring an indoor/outdoor aesthetic while offering durability perfect for high-traffic areas. Designed for your garden or patio, the sleek Butterfly folding chair makes a stylish and comfy addition to a snug or living room. Its minimalist design and solid beech frame ensure it’s both chic and practical. Plus, it folds away neatly when not in use. Pair it with the Umi stool to create a cosy retreat for tea and reading.

Embrace a nature-inspired colour palette

Connect your home to nature by choosing a colour scheme inspired by the outdoors. Earthy tones, greens and blues in various shades work beautifully. For instance, the striking large ribbed rug in terracotta combines a soft touch with a rich colourway, ticking all the boxes for this nature-inspired look.

Florals are also having a major moment in 2025, thanks to the ever-growing cottagecore trend. The Switch sofa bed in its bold floral print takes lounging to the next level. With three reclining positions and a soft futon mattress, it’s perfect by a half-open window, sunlight streaming in – transporting you to a classic English garden.
