Garden Tours @ Chiswick House
House Garden Guides will be offering public tours of the beautiful Chiswick House Gardens on selected dates in October. Discover the spectacular features of the gardens and the fascinating stories which lie behind them. The 75 minute tours start in the Courtyard of Chiswick House where visitors will be met by Garden Guides. Visitors will view the highlights of the gardens and hear
about their history and renovation including the lake, Ionic Temple, Classic Bridge, Italian Garden and the Conservatory. The Autumn Garden Tours are free. A maximum of 25 people in each tour. The tours will begin at 11:30 am on certain Wednesdays and 3:30pm on certain Sundays. Halloween Pumpkin Carving Competition
Hurrah! It’s the Annual Halloween Pumpkin Carving Competition.
By popular demand, Fortnum & Mason are once more giving children the opportunity to test their pumpkin carving and artistic skills. The Children’s Competition for ages up to 10, will take place between 3pm and 5pm in the Demonstration Kitchen, with judging at 4 o’clock. Ghoulish treats will be offered, and there will be a decorating area available for last-minute alterations. The Prize is a Crate of Splendid Sweets for the winner. This event is free to all entrants. Hammersmith Halloween Event
Get ready for a half-term full of spooky surprises as Hammersmith is the place to be this Halloween. Visit Hammersmith London’s creepy Witches’ cabin on Lyric Square for a variety of FREE chilling Halloween activities to keep you (or your kids!) busy this half-term. To start off with, budding scavengers are challenged to take part in theHalloween Pumpkin Hunt, which will run from Wednesday, October 29 to Friday, October 31.
Ghastly ghouls have three days to find all the Hammersmith London pumpkins, which have been carefully hidden in shops across Hammersmith. Find them all and you will be richly rewarded for your efforts, as goodie bags (including a free witch’s hat) will be given to everyone who makes it back to our haunted cabin with a complete form.
And on Halloween itself, make sure you take advantage of Hammersmith London’s FREE face-painting. Come along to our creepy cabin from 1pm, take pictures with the wicked witch and leave with a new face in preparation for our Fancy Dress Competition at 4pm. There, the top three costumes will be crowned and amazing prizes given away.
Tall tales and scary stories will also be taking place during Friday lunchtime as our resident storyteller will terrify you with a selection of haunting tales, all for FREE.

The Real Halloween
Packed with entertainment for all the family, The Real Halloween is a smaller event than the charities annual Fairy Fair, and celebrates all that is magical about Halloween and late autumn. Throughout the weekend, children can take part in the charities ever popular workshops including, Magic Wands, Witches Messengers and NEW workshops Witch Training and Wizard Training. Other activities at this magical autumnal event includes lantern making, the witches’ kitchen, fairy banquets and the autumn photo booth. Families can also try their luck at Conker Championship, Apple Bobbing races, Sugar Beet Shot-put,Parsnip skittles, Beat the Bonfire and Crown Green Vegetaboules. Each day the event ends with a magical, story by candle light in the woods of Holt Hall followed by a parade of animals. Fire braziers, live music from Penny Less, Addisons Uncle, The He Hews and Ugly Dog Skiffle, storytelling, shows, craft market, food stalls and the Good Elf beer tent all add to this unique family event. 25th & 26th October 2014. Norwich Beer Festival
The 37th Norwich Beer Festival, organised by the Norwich & Norfolk Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), will be held at St. Andrew’s and Blackfriars’ Halls from October 27th to November 1st 2014. Over 200 cask-conditioned Real Ales from Britain’s independent brewers will be on sale, along with draught and bottled beers from Continental Europe.
