The key to a happy life? Think small and simple!
If a big bonus, a large house and a fancy holiday always seem to be out of reach, fear not!
Happiness, it seems, is all about embracing life’s small and simple pleasures. At least that’s the case according to entertainment channel W, which commissioned a survey for Davina McCall’s series The Davina Hour focusing on the pursuit of happiness.
Top of the list of things that make us happy was a kiss and a cuddle. Over half (52%) listed this as their top pleasure, while fresh sheets came third with 38% of the votes. And good news for pet owners (and their beloved animals!) – stroking a loved pet came fourth in the poll of pleasures that make us happy. Bagging a bargain attracted a quarter of the votes, coming in at fifth place, while having a cuppa with a friend attracted 17% of the votes coming in at eleventh place.
According to W channel’s general manager Steve North, “People can go to great lengths and expense to buy lavish gifts, throw sumptuous parties, or go on outlandish holidays but as often as not, we get intense pleasure from the simple things in life.”
Futon Company says: We’re big advocates of the phrase ‘less is more’.
