Products to see at Tent 2015


Futon Company is making its London Design Festival debut at Tent 2015. This is the first time in 35 years we’ve showcased at the festival, so we hope you’ll pop along to see us at the Truman Brewery stand G25 Hall T1 between September 24th-27th . To get you in the mood, here’s a taster of some of our Design Masters

Baines & Fricker Cactus Oak Twingle £869
Baines & Fricker are a husband and wife team who launched their design company at 100% Design in 2011. Their Harris Tweed rocker was a Blueprint finalist for Best New Product. Steve Baines has been a furniture maker for a number of years and Eliza Fricker as worked as an illustrator and screen printer. Their collaboration has come from a passion for long-lasting design, having gradually over the years made and acquired pieces for their own home. They believe that things for the home should be worth keeping and they use this ethos to create their pieces. They design and make products in their Brighton workshop and use British materials wherever possible.







Ben Fowler Hat Tree £189
Since leaving the Royal College of Art in 1984 Ben Fowler has developed a furniture design and manufacturing business that is varied and unique. Ben has designed furniture ranges for some of Britain’s well-known brands including Ercol, The Conran Shop, Habitat, Futon Company and M&S, where his designs have been awarded a prestigious Design Guild Mark.








Coucou Manou (Nell Beale) Loop Mini Cabinet £699
Nell Beale is a trained and experienced designer and maker of furniture with over 20 years in the business. She launched her Bath-based furniture and interiors company Coucou Manou to offer beautiful and original furniture for adults and children. Her passion for colour is evident across her collection and her knowledge of cabinet making results in every piece being crafted to the highest standards. Beale designs furniture mainly from quality sheet materials and is interested in utilising the materials in the most efficient way avoiding wastage.








John Weaver Softmod Side Table £379
John has been making and designing furniture and kitchens for over 30 years. Recently he has been developing a range of freestanding bedroom storage for small batch production. He’s a firm believer in ‘less is more’ and the appropriate use of a radius.









Magnus Finlayson Tia Table £275
Magnus founded Tobi Design, an Edinburgh-based furniture company, to design, create and manufacture original contemporary furniture. Magnus has been designing and making furniture for around 20 years for clients in the UK, France and Italy. Stemming from an engineering and product design background, he further developed his own creative style, gaining an arts degree from Glasgow School of Art. Working in sustainable natural woods, Magnus enjoys using a variety of solid timbers and combines them with contrasting materials to create original, well-crafted designs.









Mark Lane Facet and Ingot Hooks from £14.99
As a cabinet maker, Mark celebrates and promotes independent craftsmanship, pure original works and unconventional design. His company Spokeshaved allows him to indulge and explore his ideas alongside an already established commissioned-based business called Square One Design Workshop Ltd.








Sam Connolly Poppin Bags from £75
Furniture designer Sam Connolly sees design as a means of pushing the boundaries and solving problems. His Poppin range is a clever storage solution – a versatile, unprescriptive and portable soft storage range for the home. Unlike conventional storage, Poppin has a small footprint and can be easily transported around the home without looking out of place. By concealing its contents it is able to act as a useful aid against clutter. Sam is a recent graduate in furniture design from the National School of Furniture at Bucks New University.
