Be a bookworm

Here at Futon Company there’s nothing we love more than curling up with a good book and a glass of something cool and fresh (or warm and comforting, depending on the weather!). And with summer almost here it’s time to take your love of literature one step further. We check out Red Magazine’s Festivals for the Bookish this summer…

Stoke Newington Literary Festival
They say: A mishmash of books, literary speakers, debates, music and food. Tracey Thorn revisits her musical memoir, Owen Jones debates the election and Polly Vernon, Viv Groskop and co take part in the first feminist literary festival-within-a-festival.

Brewin Dolphin Borders Book Festival
They say: Set in a beautiful National Trust garden, it brings together books, music and food in one picturesque setting. Talks with Andrew Marr and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, so-bad-it’s-brilliant music from the Really Terrible Orchestra and a special celebratory reading of Alice in Wonderland.
When & where: June 11th-14th in Harmony Gardens, Melrose, Scottish Borders

Althorp Literary Festival
They say: Four days of literature, talks and events, against the backdrop of one of the UK’s loveliest stately homes. Author and Red cover girl Sophie Dahl, Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes and bestseller Marian Keyes.
