Masters of Small Space Living – featuring CoucouManou
Visitors to our flagship store on Tottenham Court Road, as well as our Brighton and Manchester shops may well have already seen our Masters of Small Space Living Installations (if not, make sure you visit before September 17th). Featuring brand new and core range products from Futon Company’s iconic Design Masters range, our exciting installations include products from the company’s iconic Design Masters Range including furniture and accessories from Ben Fowler, Jane Crisp, John Weaver, Karl Weitz and CoucouManou.
Furniture/designer maker CoucouManou, featured in the recently-launched Esporta X/WGSN Trend Guide for 2017/18, is one of the Design Masters featured in the installation, and as she gears up to exhibit at Decorex 2017 as part of Design Nation, we take a look at what she’s up to right now.
Tell us about the GG Shelves that are featured in Futon Company’s Design Masters Installation…
I designed the GG Shelves years ago when I was a furniture/designer maker in Brighton. I thought it was a smart design and although it had a very small footprint, it utilised the space very well. I refined the design in 2012, making them look lighter and less chunky. The originals now reside in our house in France and serve as really handy bedside tables.
What are you working on right now?
At the moment I’m working on quite a few pieces from the CoucouManou collection, including the GGShelves and Loop Cabinets, some of which have been customised for clients. I’m currently in talks with a specifier for an American hotel chain to supply a number of Loop Cabinets for a Las Vegas hotel. I’m always thinking of new designs and plan to launch a new collection next year.
Tell us about your plans for this year’s London Design Festival.
I’m exhibiting at Decorex as part of Design Nation, a group of designer/makers, this year, so along with completing private orders, I’m also preparing for that – Stand F17.
See CoucouManou’s GG Tables in-situ at Futon Company stores on Tottenham Court Road, Brighton or Manchester between now and September 17th.
